husband of the year :)

Brent wins husband-of-the-year award for staying up late to clean the messy kitchen. I had a busy week at work and have been feeling sore and tired, so the kitchen turned into a disaster area. We got home last night and I headed straight to bed. Brent did the dishes, folded laundry and mopped the floors. His week is at least 100 times busier than mine. But he took time and cleaned up anyway.

Some girls like roses, others like chocolates, nothing wins me over like a clean kitchen.

spring fever

Weekends are the best. During the winter Brent worked on Saturdays and so our weekend always felt short. Now we get to spend a lot more time together. On Friday night we were on our way out the door to use a gift card for dinner when Brent checked the score of the UNC game and saw it was close, so we ran to a local sport's bar instead so he could watch the end. We spent the rest of Friday night watching the games and doing homework.

Saturday morning Brent went to take a practice MCAT, which is a loooooong test. I headed to our stake's women's conference. It was fantastic! The theme was Elder Uchtdorf's "Forget Me Not" talk from last conference. I went to a couple of break out sessions on scripture study, patience and cooking. It was exactly what I needed to hear. I also got a recipe for the rolls at Maddox. They were delicious, I am excited to try them with wheat. If they turn out I will post the recipe.

After my conference and Brent's MCAT we headed home so I could finish a paper for my psych class. I have been so excited in my countdown to baby that I have not been counting down the 6 more weeks until I graduate! Cannot wait to be done with my Master's. As soon as I finished my paper we ran to get ice cream and enjoy the beautiful weather for a bit. We read scriptures and studied in the park. Then we headed to see the Hunger Games with some of our friends. Overall we liked the movie, but the books were definitely better.

It's hard to believe that we only have 7 more weekends until our little guy gets here. I already wrote all about week 32 of pregnancy--- but here are some pictures of my growing bump

officially 8 months!

countdown

I was hoping to have a new ultrasound picture to post today with a close up on baby's face, but he would not cooperate. We have some excellent pictures documenting the fact that he is definitely a boy, but thought we would spare him that public embarrassment.

Everything is looking really. I am 32 weeks now (ok so not til Friday, but close enough). That means I am officially 8 months pregnant. It is crazy to think we are only 8 weeks away from meeting our little boy.

For the most part I am feeling great, I just get tired really easily. I sleep in every day and take a nap and by 10 I am ready for bed. Hopefully my energy levels will come back soon. We have not picked a name yet and other than the quilt I have not done much planning/decorating for his room. Maybe in the next few weeks I will get started on all of that stuff :)

spring break

One whole week without school meant having Brent around all week! We both had lots of work, but we decided to have a little fun too. We took off on Friday and headed down to Utah County to hang out with my fam for a 3 day weekend. On Saturday the girls went shopping while the boys watched basketball.
Sammi is in the back and Maren is next to me
There is Maren with my mom, she is very excited about the shopping trip

On Sunday night we headed over to my brother and sister-in-law's house to watch Finding Bigfoot. They filmed in Cache Valley for the season finale. The whole show became less credible when they showed our brother-in-law's friends as credible bigfoot witnesses. We had a lot of fun watching though. Ashley did a much better job at documenting the party here:
This is Brent and I getting our sqautchin on.
These are the lovely Rose girls, Cassie and Lexie. We all got the pink memo.
Our nephew Corgan heard the party and snuck out of bed to come join.
This is him coming to tickle Brent.

On the last day of our trip Brent got the stomach flu. It was only a 24 hour bug, but because I am pregnant we were nervous I would catch it, so I stayed as far away as possible. Thankfully my mom was willing to take care of Brent and made sure he survived.

We headed back to Cache Valley on Tuesday and spent the rest of the week sleeping in, working, quilting, watching march madness, and enjoying the amazing spring weather. Of course I could not find my camera for any of this. The break was exactly what we needed. We are getting very excited for the summer when we will have more time to enjoy together outside.

what not to wear

There are not many things in our marriage that we really disagree on. For the most part Brent and I mesh very well. There is, however, one issue that seems to keep cropping up. Brent has this sweatshirt. A treasure, so he tells me, from Guatemala. I would try to describe it, but no description does it justice. So here are some pictures of THE sweatshirt.

That's it. A Space Jam sweatshirt.
Here is a close up, you can see where some pen ink stained Porky Pig's left eye.
Brent's favorite part is the back which lists all of Jordan's stats in the shape of a 23.

Now you may be thinking what is the problem. One of my biggest fears is being that over-controlling wife who tells her husband everything he can and cannot do. I really do like most of Brent's clothes and I usually just smile when he puts on something I don't like. I draw the line at this sweatshirt. Sure it is charming, I love the Looney Tunes. I even think Michael Jordan is great (we have a huge poster of him hanging up in our office). I am fine if Brent wants to wear it camping or while hanging out on a Saturday. But when he attempts to wear it to work or school... that's another thing. I tried to hide it once, but he found it. This ugly sweatshirt keeps showing up and every time he attempts to wear it in public I roll my eyes until he changes.

So, what do you think? Am I too controlling? Or is it okay for me to tell him no on this? Any other wives out there have clothes you don't let your husbands wear in public?

On an unrelated note, saw this idea on pinterest and LOVE it-- I wrote on the washer in dry-erase marker all of the clothes that cannot go in the dryer. Brent often starts a load and I'll be home to throw it in the dryer, or vice versa, and when all of the clothes are wet sometimes it is hard to figure out what's in there that cannot be dried. Here's hoping this saves us from any more laundry disasters.

photo update

We made it to one Aggie basketball game this year! They won :)

Taken just a few days before I could no longer see my feet when I look down

Brent's weird face. It looks like the light is a laser from his eye. weird.

We went to firehouse after. Not all of these glasses are Brent's... just the 7 in front :)

Here I am at 28 weeks pregnant. That's 7 months.
Officially third trimester.

Thanks to Brent for sacrificing his entire weekend-- I was able to get the baby quilt top done
It is now up on frames.

I finished sewing the first square tonight. 29 more to go!
If you are interested in helping with some hand quilting call me.
